The Archipelago of Chiloé forms a part of the Lakes Region in the northern Chilean Patagonia, and is situated between latitude 41º45’ south and longitudes 73º15’ and 74º30' west. It extends from the Chacao Channel in the north, to the Gulf of Guafo in the south, the Gulfs of Ancud and Corcovado in the east and the Pacific Ocean in the west. The archipelago is made up of the main island of Chiloé and numerous smaller islands, being the main ones Quinchao and Lemuy.

 LAND ACCESS
Daily overnight bus service, offering fully reclining seats, leave from Santiago every afternoon at 6:30pm for Ancud and Castro with connections to other parts of Chiloé Island. The journey is approximately 18 hours.
From Punta Arenas a 36 hour bus trip leaves every Monday and Friday destined for Chiloé traveling via Argentina and entering Chile at the Puyuehue border crossing.
From Puerto Montt, daily buses operate between 07:00 hrs and 20:30 hrs leaving every 45 min, making connections to various cities and towns throughout the Island.
AERIAL ACCESS
Morning and afternoon flights leave Santiago daily for Puerto Montt’s “El Tepual” Airport, 68 km (42 miles) from Chiloé. Regular transport service exists between the airport and the city or bus terminal in Puerto Montt. Car rental is also possible at the airport. |
